HOW TO INCORPORATE LIGHTING INTO YOUR HOME'S INTERIOR DESIGN
There’s plenty you can do to spruce up your home’s interior design, but lighting is one of the most important elements in any room. The rule of three applies to lighting just like other elements of interior design. That means ideally you should have three lights in each room, with three different styles of lighting being preferred.
Types of lighting include overhead lights, lamps on side tables, and accent lights. Don’t forget to take natural lighting from the sun into account during the day, but it obviously can’t be utilized at night. Great lighting is usually not noticed, but the lack of good lighting is easy to spot. Great lighting can make everyone look their best and even make the environment feel more comfortable and relaxed.
One of the first things you can do is to avoid overly bright lighting. It’s better to have dimmer lighting from multiple sources than to have one massively overpowering light. You don’t need just one light to brighten up the entire room. Multiple points of light such as low wattage lights combined with various lampshades will often do the trick.
Dimmers are essential for multipurpose rooms. Not only do they provide flexibility for mood or time of day, but they’re also a great way to lower energy costs. You’ll also want to avoid fluorescent tubes which can fatigue your eyes and make things look off color. A great incandescent replacement is a dimmable white A-19 LED light bulb.
Windows should be utilized when possible. Low-E windows allow in natural lighting while reflecting the sun’s heat away from your home. Home Solutions at Ace is your local Sparks source for home lighting including table lamps, floor lamps, and pendant lights. Give us a call today at 775-323-2750.
